Plus, first things to do on a new Android phone and a screen break reminder app for Mac.

Welcome back to The Digital Minimalist.

Each week, I share practical tips and tools to help you stay productive in our cluttered and distracting world.

Beeper: An all-in-one chat app for iOS and Android

Checking messages across different platforms can be both time-consuming and distracting.

Beeper brings all your chats into one app, from WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, and more.

It's available across platforms on iOS, Android, macOS, Windows, and Linux.

First 7 things to declutter on a new Android phone

As a new Android user coming from iPhone, many areas can feel more cluttered than they should be.

In this first article for Android users, I’m sharing 7 steps I took to achieve a cleaner phone setup.

  1. Change Navigation bar to "Swipe gestures"

  2. Turn off "Media page"

  3. Uninstall unnecessary apps

  4. Customize Quick Settings menu

  5. Turn off notifications for non-essential apps

  6. Turn off "App icon badges"

  7. Turn off app recommendations

The steps and naming conventions are based on Samsung Galaxy devices and may differ for other Android models.

Regardless, we hope you find inspiration to declutter your device.

LookAway: A screen break reminder for Mac

LookAway is an app that takes over your screen to remind you to look away, helping to reduce digital eye strain, just as the name suggests.

The app has been my daily companion on my Mac since I first discovered it, helping me protect my eye health.

More recently, it has expanded to include reminders for correcting your posture and blinking at healthy intervals.

Monthly Calendar Wallpapers for March

Every month, we create calendar wallpapers for your phone’s lock screen.

We’ve linked this month’s wallpaper download below, and you can also find future wallpapers here.

Final Notes

Thanks to your support, we’re expanding our content beyond Apple devices to include Android setups and apps.

Some articles and guides may be specific to Samsung Galaxy devices, as that’s what our team currently has access to. We appreciate your understanding if certain steps differ on Pixel, Xiaomi, or other Android devices, but we hope you can still use them as inspiration.

If you have feedback or ideas, feel free to share them in our Discord community here.

I hope you enjoyed this issue, and I will talk to you soon next week.
